Norway's biggest capital ship in historical surroundings !

KNM Narvik is a museum ship and Norway's biggest prior service capital ship. She is in great shape, kept by The Friends of KNM Norway. On board you can learn and immerse yourself in the life on board a naval ship from the height of the Cold War, and even have meetings in one of Norway's most unique conference venues. A great arena for learning, eetings and team building.

Horten has an illustrious military history and for a long head quartered the Royal Norwegian Navy. Karljohansvern was for more than a century the navy's main shipyard, which in the 1960s built the Oslo class frigates, of which KNM Narvik is the only remaining member. Now the Narvik is anchored at Karljohansvern, where she was launched from in 1965, as Norway's largest prior service war ship.

KNM Narvik was a capital ship of the Norwegian navy for the later half of the Cold War. She has deployed for international operations several times. Today she is moored in historical surroundings by the stores buildings (Magasinbygningene) at Karjohansvern which were built to quickly equip and ready war ships for deployment in the age of sail. Nearby you can found the missile torpedo boats KNM Blink and the diesel submarine KNM Ulstein, both parts Navy Museum.

In addition to maintaining KNM Narvik, the Friends of KNM Narvik charity is currently busy restauring the missile torpedo boat KNM Skrei. Both these jobs are important features in maintaining military history and naval cultural legacy.
