A historical cod liver oil factory that has transformed into a modern restaurant and museum!

Full Steam in Henningsvær is one of the most unique premises we have arranged events in. It´s a 200-year-old cod liver oil factory, very well preserved, and is presently housing a museum and restaurant. Historical artifacts from Henningsvær´s old telegraph and the old soda factory, canned food factory and the cod liver oil factory feature throughout the venue. As a visitor you´re allowed to touch all the artifacts.

This is an intimate restaurant suitable for both small and larger groups of up to 70 seated guests, with even more at a buffet.

The atmosphere in Full Steam is special and something you shouldn´t miss. Once you arrive you´re greeted with home made caviar.

At Full Steam you´ll be served local food tasting like it´s home cooked. Smoked cod, cod caviar, dried cod, fried cod tongue, whale meat, fish soup and fish stew
all feature on the menu.

Your host, Kalle Mentzen, will tell stories from Henningsvær and Lofoten. You´ll learn about the Lofoten Seasonal Fisheries and its catch, the skrei (seasonal wild cod), caviar and cod liver oil. Included in the show you´ll be offered a drink that only the bravest dare try.

This food experience is perfect after a fishing trip, kayak trip or a guided tour of Henningsvær.

Full Steam is located next to the Lofoten Arctic Hotel Skata, which in itself is a lovely accommodation alternative.
In 2017, Kalle Mentzen and Full Steam participated in the Norwegian reality TV-show called “Skårungen”, set in the Lofoten Seasonal Fisheries.
